Lindisfarne Collection - St Cuthbert bead stud earrings

£38.00

Delicate silver stud earrings cast from a St Cuthbert bead found on Holy Island.

St Cuthbert beads are the tiny fragments of fossilised crinoid stems - a marine echinoderm which lived in the shallow waters around Holy Island about 300 million years ago.

Known locally as Cuddy’s beads, in medieval Northumberland they were strung together as necklaces or rosaries, and became associated with St Cuthbert.

Cast in sterling silver, the earrings are an exact replica of the original bead, and retain all of the intricate detail.

Approx 4mm in diameter and set on simple sterling silver pins with a scroll fastening.

Dispatched within 1-2 working days.
